Train for the Unexpected: REAX Equipment at VALE Lake Wylie

Running outdoors rarely means running on perfectly even ground. Trails, hills and changing terrain make your body adjust with every step. At VALE Lake Wylie, REAXING equipment brings that challenge indoors and adds a reactive element to your workout.
Why balance matters to us
Balance is easy to take for granted, but it’s part of almost everything you do: climbing stairs, carrying groceries, chasing a toddler, catching yourself on a slick sidewalk. Like strength and endurance, it’s a skill that responds to training and fades when it’s ignored. Most gym equipment, though, works you on stable, predictable surfaces. At VALE, we believe a well-rounded fitness routine should train the body for how life actually moves. That’s why we brought REAX to our fitness center.
What makes REAX different
REAXING calls its approach “neuroreactive” training. In simple terms, the equipment introduces small, unexpected movements while you exercise, and your body has to respond in real time. Instead of repeating the exact same motion, you’re challenged to stay balanced, coordinated and engaged.
REAX Run
REAXING describes the REAX Run as a proprioceptive treadmill. Proprioception is your body’s ability to sense its position and movement in space.
Unlike a traditional treadmill, the REAX Run’s deck tilts suddenly in different directions as you run, much like uneven trail terrain. Those shifts challenge your balance, coordination and body awareness alongside your cardio workout.
REAX Board
The REAX Board brings the same reactive concept to floor-based training. The platform delivers short, dynamic movements beneath you, adding a new balance challenge to squats, lunges, planks and more.
Familiar exercises feel very different when the surface beneath you isn’t predictable.
Getting started
The REAX Run and REAX Board are available in the VALE Lake Wylie fitness center. If you’re new to reactive training, start at a lower intensity and get comfortable with the movement before progressing.
If you have an injury, balance concerns or a medical condition, check with your doctor before getting started.
More ways to move at VALE
REAX is one example of how VALE brings wellness into everyday life. With WELLIFIZE, residents can go beyond the fitness center to explore workouts, recovery, nutrition, mindfulness and more resources to support their well-being.
